Oktoberfest...

PARTY WITH THE BAVARIANS ....

On the 23rd of September at approximately 6:45am, Mom dropped us off at the Bad Nauheim train station to send us on our way. Standing on the platform amongst all the businessmen and women on that cold Thursday morning were two girls in their brightly colored dirndles with oversized lugage and very sleepy faces. Mom had prepared us a little napsack of snacks for the 3 hour train ride to Munich: two little salami sandwiches, a large bottle of water, apples and some hard boiled eggs, which quickly stunk up a good 2ft. radius in any direction of the girls in the funny outfits. It was quite hysterical thinking back. But the sleepy daze of that morning, the looks as people passed by, and the stench of rotting eggs that followed our every step really didnt phase our excitement for the day's events yet to come.

We arived in Munich around 11am, shoved our luggage into a locker at the train station, and found our Austrian tour guides. Exiting the train here was much more comfortable. Let's just say we blended in, and those who were in "normal" clothes were the odd ones out. It felt great to be a part of something so big, especially on a 2oo year anniversary.

Originally Oktoberfest was just a wedding that got so fun and out of control that they decided to do it anually. It was also kind of a big deal because the peasants were invited to the party, when normally an event of such magnitude would have only hosted the finest upstanding citizens of the time.

Allow me to be brief: Drink beer, eat food, drink beer, ride rides, drink beer, commit to a location, dance our asses off with 2,ooo other people in a pretty tent, cheers with 5 people in every direction every few minutes, yell and shout while stomping on tiny wooden benches, and have the time of our lives ...

Seriously though, we had a BLAST! And the best part is that no one got injured, lost, nor left behind. All in all, a great success.
